I’m currently packing for Hawaii! Here’s some of the things that made it into my suitcase along with some advice that helps me out with some packing predicaments!
Packing is such a precarious task, especially when one plans to be both active, maintain a sense of style (and make others oblivious to the fact that I’m living out of a suitcase for 5 weeks) and to leave some empty space so that I can pick up a few goodies along the way. So here’s some of the things that made it into my suitcase along with some advice that helps me out with some packing predicaments!
1/ Surfs Up! I’m planning to finally! get to know a surf board. And it’s about time too. I’m also going to spend my time hiking and walking a lot of trails and experience the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands up close, so active wear is a must. Keeping health goals up especially during holiday season can definitely prove to be a challenge but bringing along your gear makes sure you have no excuse to slack off. I’m packing about two to three sets of active wear plus my sneakers. Can’t forget a good old surf guard to avoid awkward tan lines.

2/ You Beaut’ I’m keeping my beauty products to a bare-minimum. For everyday, I’m going for the bare faced look using a concealer (using a foundation as a concealer gives a more natural finish), a mineral powder foundation, eye-lash curler, blush and lip tint. For a bit of pampering a face mask or face oil is my go-to. I’m also including a bold lip and eye shadow palette for special occasions (such as Christmas, New Year etc).

3/ Tote-ally. My carry-on tote is always filled with reading material! It’s my favourite thing to do on the plane especially long haul flights. Of course, I can’t go without updating my iPhone with new music, games and applications to keep me occupied (it is after all a thirteen hour, non-stop flight to Honolulu from Manila). And since I’ll be sitting in airplane air for such a long time its so important to bring some extra layers for warmth and comfort – such as a scarf. And of course, a rich hand and face moisturiser and lip balm to combat the drying aero-environment.

4/ Stay Golden. I don’t know how much I can expect from Hawaii in winter but if the sun shines at least I know I’ll be prepared. I’m keeping my accessories, like my beauty products, to an essential minimum. I wish I had a travel size of my perfume cause I can’t get enough of this scent! I find that bringing a mixture of statement and subtle accessories is the best option when traveling. Mega-tip: to pack tangle-prone pieces like necklaces, use a piece of tissue paper and place one item in a corner and then fold (repeat). That way each piece is separated in a convenient little parcel.
