This pairing of silk textures in jewel and floral tones instantly reminds me of the freshness of spring…
One day, someday, I hope to find myself waking up to a big window that allows me to see the transition of all four seasons: summer, spring, autumn and winter. Growing up in the tropics I spent my days in what you could call an “endless summer”. A Christmas song from my childhood echoes the resounding idea, “Christmas where the gum trees grow, there is no frost and there is no snow.” Ah, the magic of a white Christmas – one I have never truly experienced first hand.
In Cairns, Australia, the only variation throughout the year would go something like: scorching to humid to rainy season to cool (cool in a context of an average of 24 degrees) and repeat. I have never experienced the enchanting transition of spring colours, to warm autumn hues, to icy winter blues. And how I wish, I could mark time passing with the colours of the leaves and cool whisper of the air. This pairing of silk textures in jewel and floral tones instantly reminds me of the freshness of spring. I suppose in this reminiscent “endless summer” of the Philippines, I’ll just have to resort to living out the seasons in my choice of dress, instead.
