Smoothies are my “go-to” breakfast first thing in the morning (after guzzling down at least 2 big cups of water) as I find that they hit my system with vital nutrients and minerals plus natural plant based fibre to ensure a happy tummy and bucket loads of energy to get me through the day.

Another great point is that smoothies are able to be placed in a sealed bottle and taken with you to work or school. So, you can see why I love them!

For my juices and smoothies, I utilise fresh, organic ingredients because I believe that the produce you put into your body – especially one that is raw and fresh should not have any nasties e.g pesticides, hormones etc because they could go directly into your system. So its better to source fresh, organic produce for your juices, smoothies and salads (at the least).

Sometimes I like to go ahead and add some boosters to my smoothies, such as:

  1. Spirulina: a blue-green algae that is awesomely high in protein, vitamin B12 and contains all the essential amino acids
  2. Chia seeds: a seed that is packed with fibre, protein, anti-oxidants and omega fatty acids – it helps you feel fuller for longer – a necessity for a breakfast meal
This Energising Green Smoothie is perfect for consuming a good amount of your daily greens, plus you receive the additional benefit of detoxifying lemon and antibacterial ginger in a delicious, quick smoothie.
